Richmond Delegate Jeff Bourne, with good reason, amid second thoughts, withdrew the bill he introduced that would have increased the disproportionate burden on Richmond taxpayers. Bourne’s bill was crafted to fund the coliseum project, which a majority of the Richmond City Council members rejected because of serious questions raised by the people.

Yet, amidst highly questionable shenanigans, previously unseen in the Virginia legislature, and reminiscent of the days of Huey Long of Louisiana and Tammany Hall in New York, there was game-playing.

This is evidenced by this recording of efforts to revive the bill that had been withdrawn by its patron, and tabled by the subcommittee, to which it had been properly referred.

Sanity will be restored, “We are a nation of laws, not of men.”
