The remarks made at VMI by Martin Brown, the Governor of Virginia’s third Director of Diversity, Opportunity and Inclusion, signifies this administration’s lack of knowledge of our nation, and the state’s role in racism.
I have tried to explain to persons advising the Governor that the historical truths of 400 years of slavery and it’s subsequent denial need to be met with a continuing commitment that signifies redress and improvement.
Those appointed to represent the “people,” on boards and appointed positions cannot ignore the past and engage in a battle of semantics if we truly want to learn how best to improve the future.
Stay tuned.
