With nine shootings in Richmond alone since Christmas and more than 50 in the last month; it is clear that gun violence is a crisis and needs to be addressed, with the same passion as the ‘Navy Hill’ project.
Governor Northam has vowed to focus on gun control measures, stating gun legislation should not be a partisan issue. He says he will pass “common sense” gun laws without Republican support.  I was fortunate to have forged strong support from Republicans when the “One-Gun-A-Month” Law was enacted in 1993.
With Democrats Creigh Deeds and John Edwards in the State Senate, unless something has caused them to change, they will NOT be voting for the legislation; they voted to repeal the “One-Gun-A-Month” Law in 2012, which was strongly supported statewide.
