Elected and appointed officials at national, state, and local levels are to provide leadership for their constituents. I’ve always believed that leadership is a tautology, it defines itself. It means to lead. It doesn’t mean to stick a finger in the air to see what direction the wind is blowing. It sometimes means going against the wind.
