I have been fortunate to have lived in what I have come to believe as America’s “connecting generation.” Born in the harshest economic times America has ever faced, during an era where the United States was recognized as the “leader of the free world,” surviving two world wars, and the Great Depression, one had to “know thyself.”
The United States Supreme Court ruled in the Dred Scott v. Sanford decision that blacks were not even human beings.
Though it was thought by some that “hope, unborn was dead,” I was fortunate to have parents who instilled in me an unconquerable spirit. My teachers in school encouraged us to always demand what was right and to criticize what was wrong.
We have a responsibility to demand of those who have been fortunate enough to be placed in leadership — directly or indirectly — to do that … LEAD.
Unfortunately, those numerous persons purporting to fill the gaps and voids in succeeding generations have increased; the results have not been commensurate.
We are in desperate need for leadership, lest the preceding sacrificing and suffering remains.
Stay tuned.
