Virginia has always stood at the forefront of American history, and this November, we have another opportunity to lead.  Alongside New Jersey, we’re one of only two states holding gubernatorial elections this year. This off-cycle election will give our citizens the most unique opportunities to lead the nation in how they want to be governed. A chance to set the tone, not follow it.  What I find most appealing about an off-cycle election is that Virginians will get to focus their vote on state issues without what some call “federal noise.”

I was interviewed recently by WJLA 7News about the race for Governor and the candidates. I have not endorsed a candidate. I want to remind Virginians that leadership, not identity, is what will ultimately drive results. Virginians deserve clear commitments on core issues: the economy, education, and the stewardship of public funds. The priorities are going to be money, and that will never change. What’s important is how it’s spent, where it’s spent, and who determines how it’s spent.
