Yesterday, I shared my reflections on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the continuation of his legacy during interviews with The National Desk and Fox News – Your World.

I recalled how after eight years of my bill being voted down or vetoed, I helped Virginia become the first state in the nation to pass legislation to have a holiday for Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

We covered many topics, and I emphasized the importance of trusting in education, seeing beyond colors and political party lines, and believing in the possibilities of capacity within each individual, no matter their race, creed or background.

As we honored Dr. King and I celebrated my 91st birthday yesterday, it is vitally important that we continue to work towards a more perfect union for ALL people.
